Today I want to share with you five activities I do every single day to begin it with the right attitude and that make me productive. I don’t want to hide that sometimes it’s hard to be consistent, especially on those warm sunny days…
But anyway, here they are, I’ve been trying different options during the years, but these seem to work the best, at least for me.
WAKE UP EARLY AND START BY GIVING YOURSELF A “SACRED HOUR”.
Take 60 minutes and do some pleasant activities. These 60 minutes are only for you, no one should disturb you. The sacred hour is a way to start the day in a positive and balanced way. (Example: 20 minutes of Yoga, 20 min for reading in inspiring story, 20 min meditation). The sacred hour can include any pleasant or relaxing activity for you!
Extra tip: try not watch tv, read e-mails or check facebook!
WHEN YOU START WORKING, FOR TEN MINUTES OUTLINE YOUR PRIORITIES FOR THE DAY.
If you have many things to do, take a sheet and write your roles (mother, partner, entrepreneur, daughter…) and decide for each role which actions you want to take today. Of course, if you have many roles, you can choose to focus only on few of them, or on the core tasks.
The purpose of this “to-do list” is to organize your life and actually be productive, not to make it worse!
DURING THE FIRST HOUR, FOCUS ON THREE CORE ACTIVITIES.
Those should be the essential tasks you need to get done to be able to do your work. These could be important activities but that are actually boring or time-consuming, or tasks you simply don’t feel like working on.
Once you get them done, you will still have the whole day in front of you to focus on what you like, enjoy, prefer, etc.
Proceeding slower doesn’t mean to do less. If you slow down, you have more time to focus on the procedures, collect ideas, think deeper about a certain topic.
Don’t multitask: focus on one task and think deeply about it. When it’s done, move to the next task.
TAKE 30-60 MINUTES AFTER WORK TO DO SOMETHING NICE FOR YOU.
Go for a walk, meet your friends. Do anything that makes you feel better: if you work in a team you may want to be alone. If you are a solo-entrepreneur, you may want to be with your family or friends.
Before going to sleep think about the day you had and be grateful for what you received, did, for who you met and so on. Think about the people or the situations you are grateful for. Even if something unpleasant happened, it was for a reason and you can learn something useful from that.
It really helps to appreciate all the little things we have in our life, but we never pay attention to.
